Acorn Way, Barnsley: Woman in critical condition after serious collision with Ford Transit Van as man arrested

It is reported the woman was involved in a collision with a white Ford Transit Van at a roundabout on Acorn Way, Grimethorpe, at 11.27am on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
She was transported to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of Section 18 GBH and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Yesterday, The Star was informed the Yorkshire Air Ambulance had landed nearby to help respond to the incident. A police cordon was in place on Acorn Way until the evening.
Officers have said the circumstances that led to the woman’s injuries are unclear and have launched an appeal to the public as part of the investigation.
