Floral tributes to 'fantastic young man' Mackenzie Ball, 20, at scene of fatal Rotherham crash

The scene of a fatal crash in Rotherham where a “fantastic young man” lost his life on Sunday has been lit up with flower tributes.
Mackenzie Ball was a passenger in a silver Land Rover Discovery at around 4.05pm on June 2 when he was killed in a collision with a Subaru Forester on Morthen Road in Wickersley. He was 20.

Hide AdAlready the scene of the crash has been piled high with flowers, balloons and heartbroken tributes from loved ones naming the young man as brother, uncle, son and close friend.
“My beautiful baby boy - we will fight to the end to get you justice,” reads one. “You were such an amazing son. Love you always and forever, love, your heartbroken mum.”
It comes as hundreds of comments have also been shared online under an appeal by South Yorkshire Police for witnesses.
Following the collision, the driver and three passengers of the Subaru Forester fled from the scene on foot, according to officers.

Hide AdA 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody following the collision.
Another of the many dozens of tributes reads: “Mac, u turned into a fantastic young man I’m so proud of you, things will never be the same, will miss u mate, love, Fox.”
“Brother & uncle, to the brother who was the youngest but who we all turned to, I promise we will all do you proud,” reads another.

Hide AdAnother, which was taped to a balloon from ‘Sophie’, reads: “Macky 29 - To Macky words can’t even describe how much you will be missed, you did not deserve this at all, you are one of a kind with a heart of pure gold.
“You deserve the whole world and we will all make you proud. We have had lots of memories that I will cherish forever.
“You are so kind, caring and funny and I can’t believe this has happened. I will never forget you and your gorgeous smile. I love you so so much never forget that.”
South Yorkshire Police has been contacted for a comment on if anyone has been charged over the 20-year-old’s death.
