Sheffield fire: Two people in hospital after being rescued from blaze in Handsworth, fire service confirms

Two people have been rushed to hospital after a house fire in Sheffield, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue have confirmed.

Emergency crews were called to a house fire on Hall Road, Handsworth, at 1.03pm. Multiple fire crews from Birley, Parkway, Central and Rotherham stations attended.

Firefighters rescued two casualties from the blaze and have both been transported to hospital.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue confirmed one team of firefighters remains on the scene at the time of writing.

They have said an investigation into how the fire started will now begin.
