Hare was seen by his 13-year-old victim driving round the local area several times a week from November 2023.

On February 2, 2024, Hare pulled up alongside the girl and exposed himself to her.

Enquiries from officers into the car registration of the vehicle seen by the victim initially identified Hare as the owner of the car. He was then positively identified by the victim.

Despite this, Hare, of Silverdale Close, Chesterfield, denied the offence but was found guilty of indecent exposure at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on April 25.

The 41-year-old was sentenced to six months in prison during a sentencing hearing at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 30.

He was also handed a three-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) preventing him for contacting his victim and was made to sign the sex offenders register for seven years. Hare was also disqualified from driving for a year.

Investigations Officer Alyshea Sharp, from the Protecting Vulnerable People Team, said: “I want to commend the girl in this case for coming forward to tell us about what happened. It takes courage to report something alarming but if you feel you can talk to us we will always take you seriously.

“Reporting incidents like this can help us stop it happening to someone else. Sometimes people who commit this type of offence can go on to commit more serious offences. I hope that results like this will prevent Hare and others from offending in the future.”

Police have not released a custody image of Hare.
