Mackenzie Ball: Police arrest seventh person in connection to Rotherham crash which killed 20-year-old

South Yorkshire Police were called to Morthen Road in Rotherham at 4.08pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a silver Land Rover Discovery and a silver Subaru Forester.
20-year-old Mackenzie Ball, known as Mac, sadly died at the scene. He was a passenger at the time of the collision.

Hide AdOfficers announced on Thursday that they had arrested a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting offenders. She has been released on bail.

The woman is the seventh individual to be arrested in connection to the fatal crash. Shortly after Mackenzie’s death, two 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of murder and causing death by dangerous driving - both have been released on bail.
A 20-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder and causing death by dangerous driving after a warrant was executed on June 5. On the same day, an 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and causing death by dangerous driving - both have been released on bail.

In a statement shared by South Yorkshire Police, Mackenzie’s family said: “Our family are absolutely devastated at the loss of our son Mac. He has been taken from us too soon.”
In the days after the crash, numerous well-wishers visited the crash scene to leave tributes include flowers, cards and balloons.
“My beautiful baby boy - we will fight to the end to get you justice,” read one. “You were such an amazing son. Love you always and forever, love, your heartbroken mum,” another read.

Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or know anything about the crash.
