Muhammad Secka, a pupil at Sheffield Park Academy, died after disappearing in the water on Bank Holiday Monday.

He was reported missing when he entered the lake but failed to re-emerge.

A major search operation was mounted and Muhammad’s body was discovered the following day.

His Janazah - an Islamic funeral rite - will be held today (June 5) at 1.30pm at Sheffield Grand Mosque, in Grimesthorpe Road, followed by a burial at Shiregreen Cemetery.

Friends and family are requested to gather from 12.30pm onwards.

Muhammad, who dreamed of becoming a doctor, was described by a friend as “always smiling” and he said he “never got into trouble” and had a “good vibe.”

A GoFundMe campaign to support his funeral costs raised over £3,200.

Sharon Wells, posting online, said: “He was my neighbour. He was a lovely kind boy who bought sweets for his younger brother and sister out of his pocket money. Cooked meals for the family. Bought his mother jewellery.

“And so clever, he was top of his class, looking forward to going to college and wanted to become a doctor.”

Devastated pal Kelly Osayi - who set up a fundraiser in his memory - said to The Star: “Muhammad always used to smile, everyone liked him.

“People are consoling each other, some people can’t believe it, some people are accepting that God took him for a reason. Everyone is grieving and they are still trying to find out what happened.

“He was with a group of friends and they were splashing each other when he disappeared under the water.”
