The summer transfer market officially opened just over a week ago and despite Chris Wilder publicly describing it as the most important in the last decade, Sheffield United are yet to make their first signing breakthrough. Hopes of a quick start to the summer have been hampered by the ongoing takeover, with a US-led consortium looking to take control of Bramall Lane.
As things stand Wilder is focusing his transfer search on loans, frees and ‘small fees’ but the situation could change considerably if there is a change in the Bramall Lane boardroom. So, we asked Blades fans to suggest some realistic transfer targets for their side this summer, as things stand - here are 40 that Unitedites would like their side to target ahead of the new Championship season...
37. Marek Rodak
The Slovakian is a free agent after leaving Fulham and could be a decent option in goal for the Blades, with Wes Foderingham and Jordan Amissah going, Adam Davies’ contract expiring and United willing to cut their losses on Ivo Grbic. 38. Callum O’Hare
Linked with Leeds ahead of his exit from Coventry City, O’Hare is a pal of Gus Hamer and maybe the United star could have a word and swing the race in the Blades’ favour if a deal can be done? | Getty Images
39. Jay Stansfield
The young striker enhanced his reputation with a loan spell at Birmingham last season despite the Blues’ relegation, but Fulham boss Marco Silva has already suggested that the 21-year-old will remain at Craven Cottage this coming season | Getty Images
40. Ian Poveda
Another former Wednesday loanee mooted, Poveda looked dangerous for the Owls and is now a free agent after being released from Leeds this summer. Luton Town and Burnley have also been linked with the 24-year-old | Getty Images
