Llorente ‘wanted’

AS Roma are said to be pushing to land Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente on a permanent deal this summer. Llorente has been on loan with Roma for the last two seasons, and he is now set to make a permanent move to the Italian capital.

According to reports in Italy, Roma want to agree a £4.2million deal to sign the centre-back having already loosely agreed a fee with the Whites last summer prior to agreeing the loan deal.

Allsop leaves Hull

Goalkeeper Ryan Allsop has left Hull City to join newly relegated League One club Birmingham City. Allsop joined the Tigers last year from Cardiff City, but he will move on again in a bid to find first-team opportunities.

“I’m buzzing to get it over the line. It feels like the right fit for me at the right time for me and I’m delighted to be here,” the goalkeeper said upon joining the Blues. “Instantly I got a feel for the project here and it’s something I am really excited about. Hopefully, I can help the club get back to where it belongs. I’m a boyhood Birmingham City fan and as soon as I knew there was interest, it was something that I wanted to explore. It is a club that is very close to my heart, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Greaves links

Sticking with Hull, Carlton Palmer has backed Tigers star Jacob Greaves to be a target for Everton if they lose star centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite this summer. Palmer told Football League World: “It looks like (Branthwaite) will go this summer but, until then, Sean Dyche can’t do anything.

“Hull will be watching the Branthwaite situation to see how much Everton receive, and I would think they will be looking in excess of £15-£20million for Greaves. Everton will need to move quickly because West Ham and Forest are in for him, but without the sale of Branthwaite, they can’t broker the deal.” Greaves was a standout player in the Championship last season, and Hull may well face a battle to keep hold of him this summer.

Speaking to Hull Live about his future recently, Greaves said: "I don't really know, to be honest. It is what it is in terms of if you put performances in and if you get noticed, then fantastic. And if you don't, then you kind of want to be doing as much as you possibly can to try and get those people looking at you. It's just a kind of compliment to the club and the way you've been playing in terms of that, you've been putting in in good performances.

"I honestly don't really know. I'm not focused on it at all. I know it's easy for me to say that, but that is genuinely the truth. I'm just so focused on these next games and putting in as a good shift as I possibly can, to help the team and help the staff out and trying to achieve the goal that we set out to do at the start of the season."
