Crookes emergency incident Sheffield: Emergency services issue statements after cyclist injured

Emergency services have described how they had to deal with an injured cyclist on a busy Sheffield road following an emergency call.

Both South Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were sent to the scene on the main Crookes road, near the Grindstone pub, last night (Monday June 17).

They received an emergency call just before 6pm.

South Yorkshire Police were the first on the scene and directed traffic at the incident, with one lane of the road closed while the emergency services dealt with the situation.

South Yorkshire Police today confirmed that the incident involved an injured cyclist, who was taken to hospital.

A force spokesman said the cyclist had come off his bike and was injured, but added: “No other vehicle was involved and we were just there as a precaution.”

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service have now issued a statement on the incident.

They said: “We received an emergency call just before 6pm on Monday (17 June) to report an injured cyclist on Crookes Road, Sheffield. 

“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to Northern General Hospital.” No details of the cyclist's injuries have been released.
