A Rotherham studio is offering free tattoos this Sunday in memory of Wickersley crash victim Mackenzie Ball.

Da Vinci Tattoo Studio, in Ferham Road, is opening its shop doors this Sunday (June 9) to friends, family and anyone who wishes to remember the popular young man who died in an incident on June 2.

Customers can have ‘Mac20’ inscribed on themselves free of charge, with a donations jar available for anyone who wants to contribute towards Mackenzie’s funeral costs.

Shop owner Joe Stanley wrote on the studio’s official Facebook page: “I will be in the studio doing ‘Mac20’ small memorial tattoos to honour the life of Mackenzie Ball. His father is a friend of mine and has given his blessing for these.

“There will be no time slots so it will be turn up and wait one at a time. These tattoos are completely free of charge to help people with the pain of their loss. I will have a jar there for donations that will go to the family to help them financially with the funeral.”

After initially investigating the crash as a case of death by dangerous driving, South Yorkshire Police this week announced they are now treating it as murder.

Four people have been arrested over the crash.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and causing death by dangerous driving.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail.

In the hours after the crash, a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail.

Enquires remain ongoing and officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or know anything about the incident.
