The Star has looked through two South Yorkshire animal shelters this week to give you a round-up of their sweet dogs that are up for adoption.
Some of them are ready to jump straight on your sofa for a snooze, while others might require a bit more patience as you help them recover from past trauma.
Many of them would be able to live in households with children and other pets, while others would be the best companion for a single person, or couples.
Whatever your circumstance, there is bound to be a dog below for you.
If any of these sweet pups catch your eye, simply visit either Helping Yorkshire Poundies or Blue Cross’s websites to find out how to register your interest.
Here are 15 dogs available for adoption this week in South Yorkshire.

![Gloria is being cared for by Helping Yorkshire Poundies. She is two years old and she is a medium sized bully crossbreed. She was sadly found abandoned. She is housetrained and knows some commands, but is very excitable and can jump up at people. She will need a calm environment and cannot live with children due to her fun, bouncy nature. She will need to be the only dog in her new home for now. She has lots of potential.](https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/jpim-static/2024/06/20/10/11/Gloria.jpg?trim=116,0,559,0&crop=&width=800)

![Biggie is being cared for by Helping Yorkshire Poundies. He is a 15 month old American Bulldog and is very sweet, playful and has tons of personality. He is housetrained and well mannered, and he even walks well on lead. He is a large dog and can jump up with excitement due to his young age. He has shown no issue with other dogs, but can be wary of strangers and may bark. He would be best suited to be the only pet in the home and needs some help building his confidence.](https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/jpim-static/2024/06/21/10/35/Biggie.jpg?crop=3:2&trim=&width=441)

![Rusty is 12 years old, and has sadly found himself needing a home for his senior years. He was an unclaimed stray, and is now being cared for by Helping Yorkshire Poundies. This Staffy cross loves everyone he meets, and is a happy, bouncy boy. He is housetrained, loves company, and will need a home where he is not left alone for long while he settles. He would prefer a pet-free home, but could be introduced to a calm, friendly, female dog. He is in a foster home and is much happier now than in the kennels.](https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/jpim-static/2024/06/21/10/00/Rusty.jpg?crop=3:2&trim=&width=479)

![Percy the Pug is five years old and is the sweetest, snuggliest boy. He is being cared for at Helping Yorkshire Poundies, and could live with children aged eight and over, a friendly female dog, and possibly a confident cat. He gets stressed around other dogs on walks so would prefer walks on quieter routes - but he is happy to have visiting dogs to the home. He is housetrained and needs a secure garden. He may have a few ‘accidents’ whilst he settles into a new home.](https://s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/jpim-static/2024/06/21/10/57/359803671_833914941231368_5257575929729768219_n-1-693x1024.jpg?crop=3:2&trim=&width=693)
