Two local hospitality experts with a passion for theatre - Justin Rowntree, formerly of Silversmiths Restaurant, and Tom Lord, formerly of FirePit Rocks – have been working alongside the Crucible Corner team to support the reopening.

Sheffield Theatres deserves no less than to be surrounded by world-class bars and restaurants and we’re honoured to be involved in this inaugural project.”

As part of Sheffield Theatres, Crucible Corner’s reopening gives theatre audiences the chance to support their favourite theatre district ahead of the return of live performances to the Crucible stage, starting with the Together Season Festival at the end of May.

Crucible Corner’s reopening menu features some old favourites such as its popular Crucible Burger and triple-cooked chips. Outdoor heaters have been added to the dining terrace, alongside socially-distanced tables, sanitising stations and digital menus accessible via a QR code.

Crucible Corner opened in 2010 alongside the £15.3 million refurbishment of the Crucible. From special birthdays to Dinner and Show packages, Crucible Corner offers à la carte food made from fresh ingredients and local produce, such as Our Cow Molly and Cafeology. The bar serves drinks including hand-pulled ales from local breweries and a wide selection of gins.

The Crucible's Together season runs from May 24 to June 5 and features new work from 13 local artists and theatre companies, with pieces ranging from dance and physical theatre to new writing, spoken word, singing and drama.

The Lyceum gets under way again on June 22-26 with some real razzle dazzle – a production of the musical Chicago starring Faye Brookes of Coronation Street and Dancing on Ice fame as Roxie Hart, pop star Sinitta as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Divina DeCampo as Mary Sunshine.
