Our alternative ‘roadmap' narrates your journey step-by-step from today, February 24, to the (whisper it quietly) calm at the end of the storm, when lockdown *hopefully* ends on June 21.
Allowing you to take in all the Steel City has to offer – from art and music, to beer gardens and fresh air – this ‘roadmap’ gives you just 10 of the best things to do in Sheffield post-lockdown and the earliest dates they are possible.
Start your journey out of lockdown here...
1. 1. NOW: Five Weirs Walk
The first stage of the 'roadmap': take an urban exploration during a five-mile walk from Sheffield city centre to Meadowhall along the River Don and the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal - the perfect escape as the sun starts to shine. Photo: Scott Merrylees
2. 2. NOW: Cycle around the Peak District (if you are local)
As the weather gets better, take a cycle around the Peak District roads if you are from Derbyshire and take in the fresh air. Visit Ladybower Reservoir near Bamford, or take one of the many trails for families or on your own. Visit the Peak District website for route ideas. Photo: Paul Ellis
3. 3. NOW: Visit one of the UK's 'coolest' neighbourhoods
Sharrow Vale in S11 has been called one of the UK's 'coolest' neighbourhoods, and with its trendy bars, artisan deli's, and thriving cafes, it is easy to see why. Visit POM Cafe for a takeaway coffee, Made by Jonty for takeout brunch, Eve's Kitchen for yummy doughnuts, or Porter Pizza for stone-baked pizza and stroll through Endcliffe Park. 4. 4. APRIL 12: Independent shopping around Division Street
Division Street in the city centre has a whole host of amazing independent shops - and they need your support when they re-open. Get your festival-ready vintage gear from Vulgar, your clubbing jewellery from Syd and Mallory's, home decor from Collar Manson, and beautiful summer plants from Moonko. Photo: Tim Goode
