Families can make Christmas decorations and gifts during sessions at Weston Park Museum on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3pm on both days. There is no need to book – visitors can just turn up. The workshops are free, but a voluntary donation of £2 is suggested.

Hide AdThe Black Dyke brass band and the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus reunite for Christmas concerts featuring sing-along carols and other favourites at Sheffield City Hall’s Oval Hall on Saturday. Tom Redmond, a regular voice on BBC Radio 3, presents and there are two performance times – 2pm and 5.30pm.

Gaze at photos celebrating a suburb
Abbeydale Picture House hosts a weekend-long exhibition, plus talks, in its Fly Tower on Saturday and Sunday, launching photographer Darren O’Brien’s book charting life in Sharrow Vale and the Antiques Quarter.
The exhibition will be open from 10am to 4pm both days, while the talks and a book signing are at 1.30pm on Saturday.

Browse a Christmas market – and savour a pub dinner
The Sportsman pub at Lodge Moor is getting into the Yuletide spirit in a big way on Saturday. There will be a seasonal market with ‘quality stalls’, mulled wine, festive food available from midday to 6pm, then full Christmas dinners are being served from 6pm to 8pm.
Mulled wine will be on offer, and a Neil Diamond tribute act is performing from 8.30pm. On top of everything else, Santa’s Grotto will be open from 3pm to 5.30pm.

Party to combat inequality

A donation of £7 is suggested – proceeds will go to the NFS, a campaign pushing for universal access to food amid rising poverty and food bank usage.
