Twenty-eight-year-old welterweight Woodhouse, trained in Rotherham by Dave Coldwell, believes he can go all the way to a British title.

Woodhouse told BBC Northampton: "I've said in 12 months' time I'll fight anybody in the country - it's not a problem at my weight.

"This time next year I'll be looking to fight for the English title and going from there. You win that and then you're looking at the British title, Commonwealth title and things like that. I fully believe they're within my grasp. I'm a very strong welterweight.'

Meanwhile, John Fewkes, the English lightweight title contender, says the arrival of Clinton Woods at his Sheffield Boxing Centre gym has given him and his stablemates a boost.

"Clinton was part of this gym few years ago, there are (other) new kids coming down, which is all good, better sparring for us"

Talking about the former light heavyweight world champion, Fewkes said on video on thestar.co.uk website: "I really look up him to as a boxer and a person and he's the nicest person you'd ever meet, he is still the best light heavyweight in the world."

Fewkes said he has received some dietary advice from Woods, and enjoys watching him sparring.

Asked about the absence of injured pal Ross Burkinshaw, from their gym, Fewkes cracked: "I don't know how we've carried on! He's a character, though, a great kid."
