There are plenty of factors behind the reason why Daniel Ciampini and Scott Allen are lighting up the Sheffield Steelers' scoreboard this season.

Ciampini leads the team in points with 15 from 11 games. and Allen is top goalscorer with seven in the same time span.

Both are inventive, assertive forwards with years of experience to call on.

But no one should overlook the influence on the pair that Brett Neumann has made since joining the duo in mid-September.

Coach Aaron Fox explained: "I loved Brett's game from the moment we moved him from centre to wing; I think his game has improved dramatically.

"With Ciampini and Scotty, I think he is averaging over a point a game in both leagues and he really drives the pace of that line.

"Without him up there you wouldn't get some of the numbers that Scotty and 'Ciamp' get.

"He really, really pushes the pace and drives defences back and creates offence off a forecheck.

"He gets in first and retrieves pucks, I think he is a key component of that line right now."

Neumann has three goals to his name so far and Fox says: "He is a guy who once he finds his scoring touch the goals will come in bunches for him."

The coach is very satisfied with Ciampini's output of thr5ee goals and 12 assists.

"He is an overall, pretty offensive player, I don't think he's either a shoot-first or pass-first player, he just takes what is given.

"He has had some really good chances, the puck has just not been going in for him.

"He probably could have had three or four more on the board, the nice thing about his game is he can do both, scoring and assisting."

Last weekend, in the wins at Manchester Storm and Dundee Stars, goals were spread around the team with Martin Latal, Robert Dowd, Sébastien Piché, Tomáš Pitule and Brandon McNally finding the net.

"Our first line has been rolling pretty good here so to get some other guys on board is very good for our group.

"It was important for Adam Raska's Power Play to get a few, last Sunday night they scored one second after the PP had ended and that second unit of the PP had scored two on Saturday.

"I put him in a different spot and I think it has been good for him over there - we put him on the forehand half-wall and Danny on his forehand half-wall and they snapped it Steelers travel to Cardiff Devils on Saturday before hosting Fife Flyers on Sunday (4pm.)
