VIDEO: Carlos Carvalhal hails the hard work as 'fantastic' Sheffield Wednesday secure place in Championship play-offs
Wednesday beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at Portman Road on the day the top six spot was secured but capitulating Leeds United's 3-3 draw against Norwich City meant that the Owls would have been in the play-offs anyway.
Kieran Lee scored the only goal of the game in the second half, following some excellent build-up play from Barry Bannan and Daniel Pudil, but the largely forgettable game will only be marked as being the day another extended season was confirmed.

Hide AdIt's a superb achievement for Carvalhal and his players in such a competitive division and Carvalhal said it doesn't matter who they take on in the play-offs, with finishing positions still up for grabs.
"It's something fantastic," he said. "We prepare very well for the games and this is a result of a lot of hard work. Six wins in a row is fantastic - that is something very special.
"We deserved to win today. It gives me satisfaction to see people around me happy: the chairman, the players and the fans. We have more points than we had last season and we are dealing with the expectations of our fans.
"This is a massive club but we can only look at ourselves. I will not think about who we might have in the semi-final or whether we might start home or away in the play-offs."

Hide AdIpswich boss Mick McCarthy admitted momentum played a part in Wednesday's win at Portman Road, describing the Owls as 'wired for the play-offs.'
"It is a shame we didn't go out on a high but I think they had the edge on us and just had that bit more quality," he said.
"We wanted the result and to play for pride but Wednesday still had something to play for. They are wired for the play-offs and they came here with real momentum and form and it showed."
