Speaking to the media via Zoom call, Monk also reported positive news on the extension of on-loan players Jacob Murphy, Connor Wickham, Alessio Da Cruz and Josh Windass who is suffering from an injury and reiterated the side’s sense of focus despite the club’s EFL case having started.
On the departing players, which also include Fernando Forestieri, Monk said:

“It should just be a matter of paperwork now with those guys,” he said. “Once we spoke a couple of weeks ago they wanted to commit and finish off.
“Josh is coming on very, very well. We’re hoping he’ll be involved in a week to ten days. He’s a great lad, super fit, so he should be back and involved in possibly the last four-odd games. Having that option coming back, he’s a fit lad anyway so he won’t lose too much on the fitness side of it, he’s rehabbing well. So we’re looking to extend Josh as well.”
And on the EFL case, which in the case of a guilty verdict could place his side in danger of a points deduction, he said: “As I said before, from my side it’s to control the football side of it. I’ve spoken to the club many times and they’re confident in terms of their side of it, so we have to just get on with our jobs.

“Of course we’ll see how that plays out but the club are confident, they have been all the way through. However that comes and whatever that looks like we’ll deal with at that time.”
