New signing, Elias Kachunga, was left out of the squad that knocked Walsall out of the Carabao Cup via a penalty shootout, but he’s been in full training all week and could get his first runout in Wales on Saturday afternoon should the Wednesday boss see fit to use him.
Speaking to the media earlier today, Monk updated on the situation of Kachunga, Osaze Urhoghide and another new signing, Chey Dunkley, as the Owls seek an opening day win to start chipping away at their 12-point deduction at the Cardiff City Stadium.

“Chey won’t be available for the weekend, we’re hopeful that in 7-10 days he’ll be returning to full training and then being in contention. We knew that with Chey when he came in - we also know the player we get when he’s done with it.
“Everyone else is fine.”
Meanwhile, regarding Liam Palmer, who recently returned from international duty with Scotland, Monk added, “He was in full training yesterday, so yeah, he’s available.”
Palmer got an assist for the Scots as they beat the Czech Republic 2-1, and returned to Middlewood Road this week after a successful 90 minutes at Andrův Stadium.
