Reports link Sheffield Wednesday with young international Luke Wilson from Portadown

According to reports from The Sun, young Portadown captain, Luke Wilson, has made his way onto the Owls’ radar, with the 21-year-old tipped for bigger things having come through the ranks at his boyhood club.
Wilson has played 14 games for his side this season, with their young skipper scoring over the weekend as they were beaten 2-1 by Ballymena.

Hide AdThe youngster – who has played both as a defensive midfielder and bit higher up the field – for the Northern Irish Premiership side, would no doubt be seen as a loss for the club, especially given his role as skipper despite his young age.
According to the newspaper, Wednesday are keeping tabs on Wilson as they consider an influx of new players in the summer following a difficult 2020/21 campaign, but there’s still no clarity yet with regards to which division they will be playing in as a they continue to battle relegation.
It remains to be seen if anything more will come from Wednesday’s reported interest in the midfielder, however with just 12 players currently contracted for next season, there are certainly changes on the way.
Wilson earned his first Northern Ireland U21 call-up in November last year and signed a three-and-a-half-year deal and was made captain at Portadown in December 2018, with that deal set to expire at the end of next season.
