It’s not been a year to remember for the Owls, but at least they can head into the New Year with a smile on their face after seeing off Neil Warnock’s Boro at Hillsborough, picking up a rare home victory and scoring two goals for the first time since their opening day victory over Cardiff City.
There was a big moment for Liam Shaw as the Wednesdayite got his first SWFC goal, with the youngster doubling the hosts' lead after Callum Paterson had made it 1-0. Duncan Watmore got one back, but Neil Thompson’s men held on.
Here are our player ratings:
1. Keiren Westwood - 7
Accomplished performance, did nothing wrong when called upon. The goal was no fault of his. Photo: Dave Howarth - CameraSport
2. Moses Odubajo - 6
Relatively quiet performance from the wingback, but can’t fault his endeavour and was full of running. Photo: NurPhoto
3. Tom Lees - 8
Another very good showing from the centre back, didn’t really put a foot wrong and made some big interventions. Photo: Stu Forster
4. Chey Dunkley - 8
Nothing wrong from his side, vocal as always and played his part in Wednesday’s overall performance. Big tackle to keep things level towards the end. Photo: Steve Ellis
