It was announced on Wednesday night that the Owls midfielder had agreed to join the Scottish giants on July 1st, bringing to an end a silence from both clubs that has gone on for almost a month after it was revealed that he’d be on his way.
His exit has sparked plenty of conversations on social media, with several fans upset by his departure and others pleased for him that he’ll be taking a big step in his career and wishing him well.

After breaking his personal silence on the matter, Shaw spoke of his respect for his boyhood club and intentions to do his best in the relegation fight, with many of his teammates chipping in to congratulate him on the move.
The likes of Moses Odubajo, Izzy Brown, Alex Hunt and Ciaran Brennan all commented on his Instagram post with congratulations and comments such as ‘Star boy’ and ‘Big player’, while long-time academy teammate, Liam Waldock, took to Twitter to say, “Been an absolute pleasure Shawy. Gunna miss you bro. Proud of ya.”
Several others from the academy such as Lewis Farmer, Isaac Rice, Charles Hagan and Josh Render all spoke of their pride in their fellow graduate and wished him all the best going forward – all of them will be hoping to follow in his footsteps in terms of stepping into the Wednesday senior team to become regulars in the next couple of years.
