Sheffield Wednesday attacker, Josh Windass, thought that it was a ‘brilliant’ game when the Owls faced Plymouth Argyle this week.

Windass was a top performer for Wednesday on Tuesday evening, causing all sorts of problems for the Pilgrims and hitting the woodwork on two separate occasions as the sides battled it out at Home Park.

There were chances at both ends, but it was the hosts who ran out as winners after a late goal from Sam Cosgrove sealed a 2-1 victory to make sure that they go into this weekend’s games on top of League One.

Plymouth’s winner came after Darren Moore had decided to take both Windass and Barry Bannan off, a decision that has certainly led to criticism from amongst the fanbase.

But Windass, rather than dwell on the disappointing result, took to his official Instagram page to praise their opponents – though admitted that the Owls need to improve.

“Brilliant game under the lights last night,” he said on Wednesday. “Shame about the late goal. We need to win these games in future! Fair play Plymouth - good team.”

The 28-year-old is expected to start once again this coming weekend when Cheltenham Town make the trip to Hillsborough, and he’ll be desperate to get back scoring again after coming so close on a number of occasions down in Plymouth.

Wednesday’s defeat leaves them five points adrift of the Pilgrims in League One, and four points behind second-placed Ipswich Town. So a win against the Robins on Saturday is required to make sure they don’t fall further behind the leading pack.
