Former Aston Villa winger Andre Green looks set to sign on at Hillsborough on a free transfer having been without a club since his Villains contract ended in the summer.

He adds much-needed depth to a stretched squad that is particularly short in wide areas.
Last week Owls caretaker boss Neil Thompson told The Star last week that he had had ‘brief discussions’ over potential targets with the club’s recruitment team and admitted Wednesday required new faces.
“That’s something we’ll deal with accordingly,” he said.
“It’s like it is with anything in terms of signing payers, it takes time.

Should the deal be completed imminently, he joins a disjointed Wednesday camp. Yesterday it was confirmed that their next two Championship fixtures were suspended after they informed the EFL they would be unable to fulfil the fixtures due to a raft of positive coronavirus tests.
It means their next match is scheduled to take place on January 23, an FA Cup fourth round clash at Premier League Everton.
