Analysis: Should Cameron Dawson keep his place as Sheffield Wednesday’s number one?
Sheffield Wednesday fans hoping for a change of goalkeeper will be disappointed as Kieren Westwood appears to have no future at Sheffield Wednesday, a fact essentially confirmed by an emotional statement on the keeper’s Twitter account on Monday. But his replacement Cameron Dawson has been in the firing line recently. Westwood has the better shot-stopping record this season, having saved 54% of the shots he has faced. Dawson has saved 47% of the shots he has faced this season, a record that is only marginally inferior to Westwood’s. Statistically the pair appear to be quite similar, yet the worry is that Dawson’s confidence will suffer.
Some fans may want a change between the sticks, but boss Garry Monk gave a firm response when questioned about Westwood’s absence.

"I have to make decisions for various reasons, that I think will help that environment, and that goes for the whole squad.
"What I will say is that every single player knows exactly where he stands."
