HUNGARIAN defender Janos Kovacs has quit Chesterfield and signed a two-year deal with Lincoln City.
The 22-year-old turned down an improved deal to remain at Chesterfield having spent three years at Saltergate after being signed from MTK Budapest.

As he is under 24, Spireites will be entitled to compensation. No fee has been agreed so a tribunal will decide payment.

Lincoln boss Peter Jackson said; "He's a footballer I've seen for the past couple of years at Chesterfield and he's a footballer who I admire so I can't believe my luck that I've managed to get hold of him.

"He's already smashed two roof tiles in my office so I've nicknamed him Everest. He's a massive lad and I'm really looking forward to working with him.

"I was frightened that other people would come in and pinch him from me."
