CHESTERFIELD centre back Aaron Downes looks set to miss the League Two season's kick-off.
The Australian defender is expected to be at the Olympics in China when the domestic season kicks-off on August 9.
Australia's opening match in the Olympics is against Serbia on August 7. Also in their qualifying group are Argentina and Ivory Coast. Their opening two games are in Shanghai and the final group game sees them travel to Tianjin. The final is due in Beijing on August 23.
Downes put in a full 90 minute shift for the Australian under 23s in the final of the inaugural Intercontinental Cup held in Malaysia but the Africans triumphed 2-0.
