GARDENERS in Rotherham are being warned not to put Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed or Ragwort in their green garden waste bins or take them to the town's dumpit sites.
The plants all grow out of control and are difficult to get rid of once established. Giant Hogweed needs special handling as it contains a clear sap which can cause severe blistering of the skin or even blindness. Ragwort poses a serious threat to horses. For information on how to get rid of the plants safely call Rotherham Streetpride on 01709 336 003.
