Hide AdEye-witness, Steve Page, who took the featured video of the failed demolition said: "I have been waiting all of my life to see a building demolished with explosives, my son and I got up at 5:30am to go and watch it.
"I heard one of the demolition crew say they had just spent £80,000 to kill three pigeons."
The 78 metre high structure was left standing tall until just after 8am this morning when Harworth Estates finally managed to demolish the historic pit head, which was the last major construction at a British coal mine.
The site is now set to be used for a new development that will include over 1,600 homes, a primary school, open spaces, sport pitches, community facilities and a bus station.
