An expert has said Meadowhall's empty car parks at opening time on Black Friday are due to an uncertain economic outlook as well as shrewd shoppers recognising that offers aren't the bargains they used to be.

Bargain hunters reported that the shopping centre was ‘empty’ and ‘not busy’ as late as 11am today - three hours after opening time.
