Thieves target Ford Transit vans in Sheffield

Police are investigating a spate of thefts from vans in the south east of Sheffield.

Thieves targeted five vans in the last 24 hours, according to the south east policing team.

Tools worth £800 stolen from a Ford Transit van in Sheffield Road, Hackenthorpe between 8pm and 11pm.

A Ford Transit stolen from Eastcroft View, Westfield. The van was found in Doles Lane, Whiston, but power tools worth £800 had been taken from inside.

Thieves took a Transit from Retford Road in Handsworth. Police said the owner had the keys and there was no broken glass at the scene.

The lock of a Transit in Inkersall Drive, Westfield, was tampered with causing £200 of damage, but the thief was not able to get inside the van.

A Transit was broken into in Watch Street, Woodhouse Mill, at about 8pm on Thursday. Batteries and vehicle accessories worth £1,300 were stolen, and police are analysing CCTV images.

And thieves also broke into two sheds in Mason Grove, Intake, steal power tools and bicycles worth £610.

The policing team said: "If you are going to store high value items in your shed, please ensure the security is appropriate."
