Singer Billy Bragg finally sees Sheffield lorry plastered with his pictures during city gig residency

The singer-songwriter, known as the Bard of Barking, posed alongside the vehicle which belongs to Sheffield based Intake Transport and which features pictures of the singer on stage as well as lyrics from his songs, The Saturday Boy and Greetings To The New Brunette.
The star is currently in Sheffield for a three day residency at the Leadmill which began on Saturday and which ends tonight.

Hide AdAnnouncing the meet-up on Facebook, he wrote: “Over the past few months, I’ve received photos of a truck with Billy Bragg livery seen on motorways in the north of England.
“The vehicle belongs to Sheffield based Intake Transport and today the driver and designer brought the tractor unit to my hotel.
“As well as a large image on the back of the cab, the design features lyrics from The Saturday Boy and Greetings to the New Brunette on the side panels.
“The graphics were created by Paul Bolt of www.signshop.tv
“Next time you’re on the M1 in Yorkshire, keep your eyes peeled for the unit. Or you might see it parked up in a service station somewhere. Extra points if you see it on the A13.”

A young Bragg raced to the studios with the takeaway and a demo tape – and the grateful radio host gave the singer his first ever radio play.
His debut album, Life’s A Riot With Spy Vs Spy hit the charts in 1983 and in 1988 he hit the number one spot with a cover of the Beatles’ She’s Leaving Home.
He is also known for his strong left wing views and hits such as Sexuality and Accident Waiting To Happen.
