Reports of bomb alert at Meadowhall Retail Park in Sheffield

Reports on social media state that police officers are stopping people from entering the retail park, and one passer-by said it is believed a suspected explosive item had been dug up in work being carried out at the site.

One picture which has been shared online appears to show a shell in front of a digger near the scene.

South Yorkshire Police has been approached for comment.
