Sheffield football team to raise money for player injured in horror smash

Callum Chambers was taken to hospital with two broken legs and a broken arm, among other injuries, after the crash in Firth Park last night, Sunday, June 21.
The 30-year-old was reportedly unloading his friend’s boot when a car struck a third vehicle, crushing Callum’s legs in between the two.

Hide AdOne woman who saw the crash said the victim had a ‘massive hole’ in his leg following the smash on Firth Park Road.
She said: “He was getting something out of his friend’s boot when he was struck by this car which had been speeding on the road, and his injuries are pretty serious.”
Since the incident, there has been an outpouring of support online, with the football team which Callum represents, Nappys XI, hoping to raise money to aid his recovery.
On their Facebook page, they wrote: “Everyone involved with Nappys XI are wishing our player Callum the speediest of recoveries.

Hide Ad“We stand by our motto 'One Team, One Family', and we will be offering as much support as we can to both Callum and his close family and friends.
“If you see our posts regarding fundraising for Callum and you can't take part, can you please just be involved and share it for the wider community.”
The team said they would be holding football card fundraisers to help Callum, who they also revealed is self-employed and has a child.
Messages left on Facebook also urged Callum’s friends to send him messages of support for when he wakes up.

Hide AdOne, Don Daniels, wrote: “Can everybody that knows my bro Callum Chambers flood him with messages for when he wakes up.
“Very bad accident last night and will need everybody's support when he is back on the mend.”
Police are still appealing for information about the collision, and said no one had yet been arrested.
Anyone with information about the crash, which took place at 11.27pm and involved a BMW, an Audi Quatro, a Volkswagen Golf and three parked cars, is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 1053 of June 21.
