Margaret and Daniel Firth, aged 80 and 83 respectively, who now live in Thorpe Hesley, will mark their 60th wedding anniversary on February 18.
The pair will be no strangers to the people of Sheffield having owned a paper shop, and transport cafe Mag’s Cafe on Upwell Street in Grimesthorpe, and where they worked together until they sold up, “Brilliant days,” said Margaret.

It was on a day trip out from the The Woodman Pub when they were aged 17 and 21 that they hit it off.
Danny remembers: “She came along with my cousin. She was just so friendly and lovely, it was love at first sight and I never entertained another girl after that.”
On February 18, 1961, they tied the knot at St Mary’s Church in Upper Heeley, which was followed by a reception at the Railway Club on Woodside Lane which, Margaret said, was attended by friends and family and was “a lovely day”.

"If I had my time again I would still look for her (Margaret) and I would marry her.”
The couple are very proud of having a loving and close family, with two daughters Debbie and Julie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
And they were aiming to have a party but will now have a proper knees up with all the family when lockdown is lifted. They also hope to all get abroad to Spain later in the year, when allowed.

In the meantime they will have a little party of four with their social bubble.
And the secret to a long and happy marriage?
“Laughter,” said Danny, “There’s not a day goes by that we don’t cry with laughter, it means so much, we are on the same wavelength.” Margaret added: “And my good cooking.”
