Former Doncaster Rovers star finds fan 11,500 miles away as he turns up at New Zealand hospital for birth of first child
A former Doncaster Rovers star got more than he bargained for when he turned up at a hospital in New Zealand for the birth of his first child - a supporter of his ex-club from more than 11,500 miles away.
Midfielder Dave Mulligan, who spent three years at Rovers between 2004-06, was stunned when he turned up at the hospital on the other side of the globe - only to come face to face with a vehicle in the car park sporting a number plate tribute to Rovers.
The 34-year-old New Zealand international, who now lives in the country, shared his surprise, posting a photo of himself posing with the Jeep featuring the DRFC Rovers Till I Die plate as he arrived at the hospital shortly before his wife Michelle gave birth.
