Evening of enchantment for Dearne students
To celebrate Harry Potter Book Night, the Dearne ALC had a full Hogwarts-style makeover and welcomed wizards, witches and muggles to events including a sorting hat ceremony delivered by Y11 students, potions and poultice-making, literacy fun, crafts and an ingredient hunt.
Successful students were allowed to visit The Three Broomsticks for a ‘Butter Beer’ and choose from a sweet and sour selection of chocolate cockroaches, sugar mice, jelly beans and other delights from Honeydukes.

The enchanting evening ended with a Harry Potter Ultimate Spellathon Challenge in which students and staff represented their houses to compete for the quiz champion’s title. After 40 questions on the spells and potion of the wizarding world had been put to the floor, Ravenclaw claimed the top spot with a score of 1050 points.
