Cops hunt rapist after sex attack on West Street in Sheffield city centre

South Yorkshire Police said a 23-year-old woman has reported being raped on West Street at around 1.30am today.
The sex attack is said to have occurred close to the Walkabout bar on the corner of Carver Street.

Hide AdDetective Constable Susannah Taylor said: “Today, specialist officers will be in the area to carry out enquiries and maximise any forensic opportunities.
“A thorough review of CCTV footage of the area is also underway and we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
“The woman continues to be supported by specialist officers and I fully understand that news of this incident is likely to cause concern amongst the local community. I’d like to offer you my reassurance that we have dedicated officers working to identify the individual involved and establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of this morning and who saw or heard anything suspicious.”

Hide AdOn March 29, an 18-year-old woman was raped in Endcliffe Park by a man who has not yet been traced.
She was attacked on a day large crowds gathered in the sunshine as lockdown restrictions were eased, allowing groups to meet up again outdoors.
