Below are some of the more serious cases to have passed through Sheffield Crown Court recently where one victim was murdered and others have been left traumatised.
Offenders have been involved in terrifying motorists with a replica firearm, a series of assaults, stabbings, burglaries, producing cannabis and stealing from a shop.
One offender was seen in the street with a replica firearm in Doncaster, and another South Yorkshire man terrorised his on-off girlfriend while another from the region attacked a man with a machete.
Two drug-offenders were also caught producing cannabis in separate cases by police in Sheffield.
In another case, a woman admitted assisting an offender who was involved in an arson attack.
And in the most serious case, a Sheffield woman was found guilty by a trial jury of murdering her neighbour who was repeatedly stabbed to death.
But judges have seen fit to punish these offenders with custodial sentences of varying lengths.
