Corey Rice began following his victim as he walked his dog and then chased after him, demanding his £2,500 bracelet, at midnight on Sunday, September 27, last year.
The man was banging on the door of his Sellars Road home, in Kimberworth, Rotherham, and pleading to be let in when Rice stabbed him twice in the back, and the attack was captured on a doorbell CCTV camera, said prosecutor Conor Quinn.

They managed to close the door and the victim's girlfriend applied pressure to his wounds as he struggled to breathe from a collapsed lung.
He was taken to hospital and treated for the two wounds and cuts to his hand where he tried to grab the blade.
In a statement, Rice's victim said he was now reluctant to leave his home because of anxiety, and struggled to fully use his injured hand.

On Thursday, Sheffield Crown Court heard that Rice has four previous convictions, including possession of a knife.
Katy Rafter, mitigating, said: "He accepts full responsibility on the prosecution's version of events.
"His age and guilty pleas are his best mitigation. He knows he is going to receive a lengthy sentence today. This is not going to an easy sentence for this defendant to serve.

"All this exacerbated his mental health difficulties. He is now free from drugs. He is doing well in prison.”
Rice, 19, of Stoneview Court, Mexborough, pleaded guilty to wounding, attempted robbery and possession of a blade.
Judge Sarah Wright told him he inflicted "appalling injuries" and only a substantial prison sentence was appropriate. She sentenced him to seven years in prison.
