Vicky Cutts, 31, from Little Norton, was walking her eight-month-old dog Vinnie yesterday afternoon at 4pm (May 12) when he slipped his lead at Meadowhead roundabout.
Vinnie ran into the road where he was hit by a silver car. The driver did not stop and drove away from the scene.

Hide AdVicky said: “When he slipped his lead I didn’t want to chase him as he would run into the road, but he ran into the road anyway.
“When the car hit him I was sick. I could not believe that my dog was dead. There was blood all over the road.
“Everybody else who was driving nearby stopped and came to help me move Vinnie off the road. They were all so kind and I want to thank them.
“But I asked if the driver who had hit him was there and nobody knew where they had gone. They had not stopped.”

Hide AdVicky reported the incident to the police, who said that the driver should have stopped and reported the collision.
“I want the person who did it to come forward because I want closure,” Vicky said. “My 13-year-old daughter and I are just devastated.
“Vinnie can’t just be replaced because he had his own personality. It feels so quiet in the house now.”
South Yorkshire Police said that the incident has been reported to them and they are investigating. Enquiries are ongoing.
