Sheffield man 'used his driver’s licence to sell stolen eternity ring'

Sean Haycock received £678 when he sold the £1,500 ring and other items at a jewellers on April 12, last year, prosecutor James Gould said. It was taken in a "substantial" burglary at a home on Bishopdale Court, on March 15. Haycock has 19 previous convictions, including robbery, burglary, and handling stolen. Joy Merriam, mitigating, said he signs with the police every week, complies with drug workers and was "stable" on a methadone prescription. Haycock, 31, of Manor Park Way, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods. Recorder Matthew Happold handed him 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, with a six month curfew and a 12 months of drug rehabilitation.
