A man wearing only a pair of red velvet ‘Santa’ short-shorts and riding an uninsured quad bike was arrested in Sheffield last night.

The bizarre encounter – when it was only around 6C outside – took place on Park Grange Road yesterday, Sunday, November 13, when South Yorkshire Police’s Off Road Team saw the four-wheeler and its breezy rider near Norfolk Park Fisheries. As the team approached, the ‘Santa’ tried to make off on his quad before he was boxed in by police bikes.

His dazzling, festive attire reportedly did not make it hard to find him on CCTV or spot that he had allegedly been riding on pavements in the area before police found him. The quadbike was road registered but not insured to the man in the chrimbo shorts, resulting in it being seized. SYP has been contacted to confirm what, if any, charges have been brought against the rider.
