Police stationed inside Sheffield shopping centre to monitor customers 'following Covid rules'

Officers from Sheffield South East Neighbourhood Police supported security staff at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre on Wednesday, December 2 – when non-essential shops such as clothing retailers were given the green light to reopen.
In a message on Facebook, the force said police from the Woodhouse and Westfield team visited the mall on their first day of reopening after the second national lockdown to ensure customers were following the rules.

Hide AdSheffield and the whole of South Yorkshire are in Tier Three of the new regional lockdown system, which only allows pubs, restaurants and cafes to operate a takeaway or delivery service.
Personal care businesses such as hairdressers, nail bars and tanning salons are allowed to welcome back customers, alongside other retailers.
Officers praised the public for following the rules and said there was “no ‘monkeying around’ from customers” who appeared to be following safety guidelines.
