Arsonists are suspected of torching a car on a Sheffield estate yesterday evening.

Firefighters had to be sent out to Meadowcroft Glade, near Westfield, on Sunday, November 13 to deal with the blaze, and who officers attended said they believed that the fire had been deliberately stated.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service said: “Birley Moor firefighters were called out to a deliberate car fire at 4.30pm on Meadowcroft Glade, Sheffield. The crew left the scene at 5.05pm.”

It was the second car blaze that crews had to deal with over the weekend, with fire crews from Tankersley having fought a car blaze at Spurley Hey Grove, Stocksbridge, at 3.10pm on Saturday, spending nearly an hour on the scene – although that fire is thought to have been caused accidentally.
