Kind-hearted Sheffielders have raised hundreds of pounds for charity in memory of a beloved couple who were killed at their family home.

A murder investigation was launched after officers were called to the property of Bryan and Mary Andrews in Terrey Road in Totley, Sheffield, just after 10.15am on Sunday, November 27, 2022 to a report of concern for welfare.

The emergency services attended and found the pensioners critically injured, and the couple were subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. Post-mortem examinations have revealed that Bryan and Mary, aged 79 and 76 respectively, died of stab wounds.

Following the deaths, many members of the community have spoken of how well-regarded and beloved the couple were, and now, over £400 has been raised for Epilepsy Research U.K. in their memory.

The page has been set-up by funeral directors, John Heath & Sons, on the MemoryGiving website and many of those who have donated have also left touching tributes to the couple.

One reads: “In memory of good friends and neighbours.”

Another says: “Bryan - a generous workmate and help.”

“We will miss saying hello to Mary and Bryan on our way down to school in the morning. And complementing Mary on her garden,” says another.

Bryan and Mary’s son, James Duncan Andrews, has been charged with their murders, and appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court and Sheffield Crown Court on November 29 and 30, respectively.

The 51-year-old, of Reney Avenue in Greenhill, Sheffield, has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court in March for a plea hearing.
