SHEFFIELD's Manor housing estate welcomed its poshest visitor for centuries...
Last night, Queen Elizabeth I made her first appearance in the area in 400 years - but nobody was seeing a ghost.

In fact, it was television historian Lesley Smith, who presents for Sky TV, dressed in full costume as the Virgin Queen to give a talk at Manor Lodge about the 16th century monarch.

Lesley is renowned for her dramatic portrayals of historical characters and has previously appeared at Manor Lodge in the guise of Tudor resident Mary Queen of Scots, imprisoned at the hunting lodge by Elizabeth.

The history buffs' event was held at the lodge's visitor centre on nearby Stafford Road.
