Longer opening hours and new delivery options for popular FryMaster fish and chips

One of Sheffield’s favourite fish and chips takeaways has become so busy because of keeping prices down during the cost of living crisis that it is now extending opening hours to keep up with demand.

Frymaster owner Richard Pearce was determined to continue his family tradition by keeping costs down on one of the nation’s favourite takeaways, when the cost of living crisis hit.

Now that has paid off with increased demand, so Richard is extending his opening hours throughout the afternoon on Fridays and Saturdays, from 11.30am - 6.30pm.

He is also making his popular fish and chips available to order on Uber Eats from 2 - 6.15pm on Fridays and Saturdays, in addition to his own ordering options on the website.

Richard said: “We have worked hard to keep prices as low as possible while people are struggling with the cost of living crisis and that is reflected in how busy we’ve become, so we are extending our opening hours to cope with demand.”

Secret family recipe

Keeping tradition alive is important to Richard, whose Great Aunt Eliza opened the family’s first fish and chips shop in Sheffield back in the 1930s.

He was born in the family home over his parent’s fish and chips shop, just along the street from where his Attercliffe Road takeaway now stands.

Great Aunt Eliza’s special batter recipe has been passed down through the family, from generation to generation. That, together with using Lincolnshire potatoes, Icelandic cod and beef dripping, helped to make her business a success and Richard is proud that the quality of his fish and chips is still winning him awards and top spots on Tripadvisor and Google reviews.

Moving with the times

However, that hasn’t stopped his modern outlook when it comes to reducing his carbon footprint.

All food waste is now recycled into bio energy, while cardboard and aluminium cans are being recycled to make an 80% reduction in their general waste.
