ALEX Turner notches up another hometown venue conquest this autumn when he takes side project The Last Shadow Puppets on their first full tour.
The band, also fronted by Miles Kane of The Rascals, will be accompanied by a 16-piece orchestra at Sheffield City Hall on October 23.
The shows begin in Portsmouth in August, taking in Leeds and Reading festivals as well as European dates beginning with Paris and other venues that were the scene of early Arctics outings.
The band, augmented by producer James Ford (drums), John Ashton (keyboards) and Stephen Fretwell (bass), also travel to America for shows in New York's Grand Ballroom and Los Angeles' elaborate Mayan Theatre, concluding back in Blighty with London's Hammersmith Apollo on October 26.
Tickets priced £25 went on sale today.
The Last Shadow Puppets' new single, Standing Next To Me, also taken from their debut album The Age Of The Understatement, is out on Monday.
Ahead of that the post festival diary is beginning to fatten up with boy-girl chancers The Ting Tings following up last weekend's Glastonbury consolidator with their biggest UK headline tour to date.
Jules De Martino and bouncy blonde Katie White land at Sheffield's Carling Academy, the venue they later DJd at after their Leadmill sell-out, on September 26.
Japan, America and Europe have figured in their live diary since the release of patchy and aptly-titled debut album We Started Nothing.
Shut Up And Let Me Go finally emerges as the next single from that on July 21, with a 12in a week later.
Rising UK solo star and heavily in demand producer Taio Cruz plays the same venue on August 12.
Responsible for chart botherers Come On Girl and I Can Be, and critically acclaimed debut album Departure, the 24-year old Londoner has been hailed as one of the most exciting British artists of his genre to emerge in recent years.
New single She's Like A Star appears the day before his first UK tour delivers him to Sheffield. Tickets cost a tenner.
Veteran punks Rancid play on Arundel Gate on November 9 preceded by smug Scottish siblings Hue & Cry on September 17. Yes, really.
The coming week sees the fledgling venue at its busiest with The Bangles tonight, Goo Goo Dolls on Monday, Ben Folds (Tuesday), Interpol (Wednesday) and veteran Eddie Grant (Thursday).
