AFTER finishing a tour of UK woodland with his dad's band, Liam Finn's first solo tour is at Sheffield's Plug on Monday
The son of Crowded House leader Neil releases his debut album I'll Be Lightning on July 21 through Transgressive, label home to Young Knives and The Shins.

Preceded by single Second Chance, the 23-year-old is on road-running with diverse label-mates Esser, So So Modern, Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man, Jeremy Warmsley and Absentee. Finn writes, produces and engineers his music, plays every instrument, even extending the DIY process to shooting his own publicity photos and album artwork.

He maintains the ethic live, seeking only backing vocals and samples with his fuzzed out guitar riffs, bass lines, drums and looped guitars.

"Whenever I see just a guy and a guitar, I think 'Here we go again'," adds Finn. "I want to give people something different."
